Friday update: The man who died in yesterday's rollover on Hiland Road has been identified by Anchorage police as James Finn, 60.

A man died Thursday morning in a rollover on Hiland Road in Eagle River, Anchorage police said.

The white Ford Ranger pickup rolled on Hiland at Mile 3.7 about 11:15 a.m., trapping the driver, and firefighters rushed to the scene to pry the man out, said police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker. The 60-year-old man was reported not breathing shortly after first responders arrived, Parker said.

Police, who had earlier said the man appeared to be in his 20s, also said later that the man's German shepherd died in the crash.

The road was closed for a short time after the rollover to pull the driver out of the pickup and investigate what caused the wreck.

Police said later they'd identified the man, but were still working to notify his next of kin.
