Loan, Folmar lead Tour of Anchorage

Sheryl Loan stayed on pace to seize her record ninth Tour of Anchorage, winning Saturday's Stage 4 time trial to go with her time trial prologue win Thursday and her hill-climb win Friday.

While Jenna App won Saturday morning's Stage 3 criterium for the women's expert riders in a sprint finish, Loan's winning time of 47 minutes, 40 seconds in Saturday afternoon's 30-kilometer Point MacKenzie time trial padded her overall lead.

Through four stages, Loan owns an advantage of 2:15 over Jenna App and 2:24 over Lori Deschamps in the overall standings.

Loan also won Friday night's 3.1-mile Upper Potter Valley Hill Climb in 18:08, nearly two minutes faster than App and Deschamps. That gave her much of her overall cushion.

Meanwhile, Daniel Folmar unofficially leads the men's expert division by a comfortable cushion thanks to his commanding time trial performance Saturday, when he clocked 41:53 to top the runner-up, Jason Lamoreaux by more than 90 seconds.

Folmar enters Sunday's finale with a lead of 2:32 overall on Lamoreaux, 3:12 on James Stull and 3:18 on John Sindell.

More than 100 riders are participating in the five-stage Tour, which wraps Sunday with the Kincaid Loop Road Race at 10 a.m.
