Wine of the week: 2010 Forefront Pinot Noir

Some of today's most sought after California pinots are coming from way south of the bay. San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara are producing some excellent juice. Thanks to business consolidations, Forefront by Napa winery Pine Ridge has the capacity to produce some killer pinot from these appellations farther south. The 2010 Forefront Pinot Noir is decidedly Burgundian in style. Delicious strawberry fruit and a velvet, smooth richness is derived from great vineyard sourcing and bolstered by a rich California backbone. Lamb, duck or tenderloin would all be great friends with this wine. Believe it or not, it's a great deal at $24. Cheers Mike.
