Alaska Regional announces new hires

Alaska Regional Hospital announced the recent hiring of five staff members.

Heather Plucinski and Angelina Caterinichio join the hospital as physician liaisons. Plucinski works with physicians in family practice, internal medicine, OB/GYN, imaging services,emergency services, and rural outreach. Most recently she was special services coordinator. Before joining Alaska Regional she was the Challenge Alaska Development Director for 11 years. Caterinichio works with surgeons, their staffs, and the hospital's surgery team to implement all operating room logistics. She was previously the territory manager for Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics.

As the new Director of Business Development, John Brassell is responsible for retaining current business partners and developing new relationships with healthcare brokers, consultants, employers, and insurance companies. Prior to joining Alaska Regional, he was director of client services for The Wilson Agency.

Carla Logan, RN, BSN, is the new Women's and Children's Services Director. She specializes in maternal child services and in this discipline has worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse, educator and clinician. She taught for the UAA associate degree nursing program providing clinical supervision in maternity nursing and fundamentals of nursing. She has also continued studying mentalhealth and nursing administration. Logan oversees the Labor & Delivery,NICU, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics departments.

Lanise Taunton-Rigby accepted the position as Nursing Director for the Emergency Department (ED) and LifeFlight Air Ambulance. She has more than 17 years experience in emergency nursing and was the interim ED director at North Suburban Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, as part of the HCA Healthcare Emerging Leaders Program.
