North Slope police intercept $150,000 worth of marijuana

North Slope Borough police on Tuesday seized five pounds of marijuana -- worth an estimated $150,000 -- that was being shipped from Anchorage to Barrow, the department said.

An ongoing investigation into illegal bootlegging and drug importation to the North Slope uncovered the shipment, the police department said in a news release. North Slope police are not identifying the person they believe shipped the package, nor the person it was being shipped to.

Both are Barrow residents and remain under investigation and subject to future indictments, the police department said. Police said they are pursuing felony drug charges in the case.
