Four face charges related to illegal sea otter parts

Four men face charges related to illegal sea otter parts they either sold or transported in Southeast Alaska, according to charging documents filed in federal court Friday.

Raymond P. Chatham Jr. is charged with violating the Marine Mammal Protection Act by allegedly transporting 87 sea otters from Sea Otter Sound to Edna Bay, northwest of Prince of Wales Island, in April and May of 2008, according to the charges.

Joshua John Wydoga, John K. Boone, and David Keith Johnson all face charges of selling sea otter pelts at different times in 2008, the charges say.

It's unclear from the separate charging documents if the cases are related. A federal prosecutor working on all four cases was unavailable for comment Saturday.
