Letter: No need for fully automatic guns

I am concerned about the State House bill just passed. The doors opened seem to have unfathomable consequences.

I'm a 53-year-old woman who was trained to handle guns from the age of 3; for the first 25 years of life I ate game meat. The doors opened seem to have unfathomable consequences.

The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms. Nowhere does it say you have the right to bear an AK 47!

Our own law enforcement officers put themselves on the line every day to protect us. They are having to go to fully automatics because they are already outgunned.

As to the automatic weapon being an everyday tool in Alaska — please tell me who these people are. Having Native and professional hunting guides to subsistence lifestyle friends, not a single one feels the need to own an automatic weapon. In fact they beg to differ.

My fellow Alaskans, the next time you are or your loved ones are affected by automatic weapons, consider civil law suits that hold lawmakers accountable for their actions.
