Motorcyclist in critical condition after Mat-Su crash

A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a head-on crash Sunday night on Trunk Road between Palmer and Wasilla, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The northbound motorcycle lost control on a curve in the road just north of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, crossing lanes and striking a southbound 2006 Suzuki sedan shortly before 9 p.m., troopers said. The sedan, driven by 26-year-old Matthew J. Reid of Wasilla, had been coming to a stop at the time of the crash.

Troopers have not named the motorcyclist, who was flown to an Anchorage hospital for treatment. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head injuries, troopers said in a written statement posted online.
