Businesses and organizations involved in the fight over Pebble

Pebble Ltd. Partnership

Anchorage-based Pebble mine developer. Partners are Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd., a Vancouver, B.C.-based mineral exploration company, and Anglo American, a London-based mining company with operations around the world.

Quasi-judicial state agency that oversees financial disclosures related to campaigns, public officials and lobbyists.

Alaskans for Clean Water Inc.

A group formed in 2008 to push a clean water ballot measure aimed at stopping a Pebble mine.

Clean Water ballot initiative

Commonly called Ballot Measure 4, it aimed to require state regulators to consider the health of salmon stocks in evaluating any new big mine proposal. It failed in the 2008 primary.

Renewable Resources Coalition Inc.

Anchorage-based advocacy group formed in 2005. It aims to preserve hunting and fishing resources and has fought a Pebble mine. Renewable Resources Foundation Inc. is a sister charity.

McKinley Capital Management LLC

Investment firm founded and owned by Bob Gillam.

Resource Development Council for Alaska Inc.

Anchorage-based business group with members from the oil and gas industry, mining, logging, fisheries and tourism.

Americans for Job Security Inc.

A Virginia-based advocacy group that has helped fund Pebble opponents. Calls itself the only bipartisan, pro-business, issue advocacy organization in the country. APOC investigator described it as a sham to conceal the source of campaign funds.

Alaska Wild Salmon Protection Inc.

Group formed in 2007, originally for lobbying but later for advocacy, according to Art Hackney, one of its founders.

Alaskans for Bristol Bay Inc.

Campaign group that promoted a Save our Salmon ballot initiative in the Lake and Peninsula Borough in 2011.
