Inmate attacked in his sleep at Kenai jail

An inmate said he was assaulted in his sleep by two other inmates Sunday night at the Wildwood jail in Kenai, according to an online dispatch released Tuesday by Alaska State Troopers.

The 44-year-old man told Wildwood Corrections Officers that two men entered his cell while he was sleeping. They punched him in the head, elbowed him in the head and back, and stepped on his hand, officials say.

The victim sought treatment at a medical facility.

He was able to identify his attackers.

It's not clear how the other men got into the cell.
