Crow Pass Trail reopened between Icicle Creek and Twin Falls

(Anchorage, AK) –A three-mile section of the popular Crow Pass Trail between Icicle and Twin Falls Creeks within Chugach State Park has been reopened after its closure on July 8 due to a brown bear charging incident and subsequent reports of a moose carcass near the trail. Park staff inspected the area on July 14 and it appears that the bear has abandoned the carcass site.

Anyone using an Alaska trail should always take appropriate precautionary measures, be prepared to encounter a bear, and be knowledgeable in recognizing bear behavior and how to respond to an encounter.
