The amateurs ruled over the professionals Saturday at the annual Bomar Cup at Eagleglen Golf Course.
The amateurs won the morning's four-ball matches 4-1 and repeated that advantage in the afternoon foursomes to earn an 8-2 lead. Competition continues Sunday with singles matches.
Amateur Paul Blanche contributed to two wins.
Named after Anchorage golf pro Billy Bomar, the tournament adopted a new format this year to give Alaska's best amateurs a chance to compete against Alaska's best professionals. The tournament began in 2008 as a competition between Anchorage golf pros and Alaska pros who lived outside Anchorage.
