Police find badly hurt teen in an abandoned downtown house

Anchorage police are investigating an apparent assault on a young man who was found seriously injured in an abandoned house Monday night, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said Tuesday.

University of Alaska Anchorage police obtained information that they passed onto to the city police, Myren said.

Anchorage police got the tip about 9 p.m. about a male who had been severely beaten and was being held against his will in an abandoned house on the 800 block of Barrow Street, police said in a written statement. Police found the 18-year-old in the downtown house unconscious and severely injured, police said.

He was taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition, police said.

No one has been arrested. Police aren't releasing details or the teenager's name. They ask anyone with information to call police at 786-8900 or, if they want to remain anonymous, to call Crime Stoppers at 561-7867.
