CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING

UAA speedsters honored

Junior Dylan Anthony and sophomore Joyce Kipchumba, whose victories spearheaded UAA's team cross-country victories Saturday in Oregon, were named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's men's and women's Players of the Week, respectively, in their sport.

Anthony's individual victory in the Cardinal Division at the 39th annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitation in Salem, Ore., where he covered eight kilometers (five miles) in 24 minutes, 20 seconds, marked his third win in three races this season.

Kipchumba finished second in the women's 5-K (3.1 miles) in 17:42.

UAA's men's and women's teams have won all three of their meets this season. The Seawolves women are ranked No. 5 in the nation among Division II teams and the men check in at No. 10. A new poll will be released Tuesday.

UAA is off until Oct. 26, when it competes in the GNAC Championships in Monmouth, Ore.
