Police seek public's help in finding man wanted on sexual assault charges

Anchorage police are asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted on sexual assault charges.

James Kim, 56, is an Asian male who is approximately 5 feet seven inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, said Jennifer Castro, Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman, in an email.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Kim on sexual assault charges. The accusation stems from a report by a female that Kim sexually assaulted her in late August in Anchorage, Castro said.

When police tried to arrest Kim, he was no longer at the residence where he had been staying, Castro said. Police thought Kim had returned to Korea, but new information indicates he may still be in the Anchorage area, Castro said. She said police have learned that he has been attempting to get a job on a fishing vessel.

Kim was driving a white 1995 Chevrolet Astro utility van, police said. .

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call APD at 786-8900 or, to remain anonymous, deliver tips via Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP or anchoragecrimestoppers.com.
