A passenger in a head-on collision in Talkeetna was airlifted to a Mat-Su Valley hospital Saturday, the Alaska State Troopers said in an online dispatch.
Troopers arrived at the scene of the accident, around Mile 2 of the Montana Creek Road, at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the dispatch.
Troopers said Joshua Waters, 33 of Talkeetna, lost control of his 1987 Chevrolet truck and crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Amy Huffman, 51, of Talkeetna.
The passenger in Huffman's vehicle, who has not been identified by authorities, was flown by LifeMed Alaska to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer for treatment of injuries described as non-life threatening.
Waters was cited for failing to exercise due car to avoid a collision, according to troopers.
Both drivers involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts but the passenger taken to the hospital was not, troopers said.
