West's Chanel Bookert and Service's Reece Robinson were named the Cook Inlet Conference basketball MVPs on Friday.
Bookert helped the West girls to an undefeated regular season, while Robinson was a key player on Service's second-place boys team.
Bookert and her teammates will enjoy a home-court advantage at next week's CIC basketball tournament.
Both of the Eagles teams will be in action Monday when the tournament tips off at West High. The undefeated West girls take on winless Service at 5:30 p.m., and the top-seeded West boys go up against winless South at 7 p.m.
The tournament feature one girls game and one boys game a day through Thursday, with semifinals on Friday. Titles games are Saturday, with the girls playing at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7.
The top two teams are guarantees spots in the March 20-22 state tournament. Six of the eight state tournament berths will be decided by conference tournaments, and the remaining two berths will be awarded to the highest remaining teams in the Winning Percentage Index (WPI) rankings.
