Anchorage police are looking for two men connected to a weekend assault downtown that left a man in critical condition.

Officers were called to a "physical altercation" on the 700 block of West Fourth Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said Wednesday.

When police arrived they found the victim on the ground.

"He appeared to be semi-unconscious," Castro said. "He was having difficulty breathing."

The man had been punched, she said. He suffered "severe head trauma."

As of Wednesday night, he was still hospitalized in critical condition, she said.

Castro would not reveal the man's name or the circumstances of the fight.

Police have issued arrest warrants for Devarrio Garvin, 22, and Trevon Allridge, 23 in connection to the fight.

Garvin is charged with second-degree assault. Allridge is charged with hindering prosecution, a charge that Castro said stems from lying to or concealing information from police.

Garvin pleaded guilty to felony criminal mischief charges in 2012, court records show.

As of Wednesday evening neither suspect had been arrested.

Police believe there were witnesses to the assault. Anyone with additional information can call police or submit an anonymous tip at 561-STOP.
