Bryan named MVP of UAA's gymnastics team

Sophomore Stefany Bryan, who represented UAA in the all-around competition at the NCAA Division I West Region Championships, was named the team's MVP at a year-end banquet Thursday.

Bryan, of Seattle, earned All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors in all-around and on uneven bars. Her season-best bars score of 9.584 ranks 10th-best in program history.

Redshirt freshman Julia York took home the Most Improved award, while junior Sariaye Jensen, who redshirted this year, and sophomore Simone Penker shared Most Inspirational honors.

Awards were also given for the highest individual averages on each apparatus, with York taking the prize on vault (9.643), Bryan on bars, junior captain Morgan Cook on balance beam (9.609) and Anchorage freshman Kallie Randolph on floor exercise (9.682).
