Nice article by Zaz Hollander on the "Alaska Bush People." It just goes to show what a bunch of nonsense it all is. About ten years ago, a film crew showed up in Cooper Landing to film something about Alaskan Bachelorettes. Of course, they billed their "lodge," actually the Kenai Princess Lodge, as being deep in the wilderness a hundred miles from the nearest town. In "reality," the lodge is located just off the Sterling highway, right in our town, a shopping-dash distance from Soldotna, Sterling and Seward, not to mention Moose Pass and Crown Point. They brought their people into the "lodge" by float-plane, landing at one of the most popular camping beaches on Kenai Lake just down Snug Harbor Road but somehow far, far away at the same time. After barring the locals from the Princess for a month or two for secrecy, they finally vacated town, then broadcast some unwatchable drivel months later. But hey, it's all in good fun. Everyone is entitled to their own reality. It simply isn't Alaskan Reality.
