Man guilty of bringing meth, heroin to Alaska from New Mexico

A 23-year-old man was found guilty of second- and third-degree drug charges Thursday after being arrested more than two years ago for transporting $60,000 in methamphetamine and heroin from New Mexico to Anchorage, Alaska State Troopers wrote in a dispatch.

Troopers said on July 21, 2012, Enrique Lino was in Anchorage, waiting for the flight that was to take him on the final leg of his trip from New Mexico to Cordova, when he was contacted by the troopers' Western Alaska Narcotics Team. The trooper unit discovered 25.9 grams of heroin and 66.9 grams of methamphetamine, according to the dispatch.

Lino was originally charged with the two felony drug charges for manufacturing, possessing and delivering the narcotics, as well as a third charge of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, which was dismissed in September, according to online records.

Lino is expected to be sentenced Jan. 23, according to troopers. He doesn't appear to have any prior offenses in Alaska.

Calls to the Anchorage district attorney's office were not returned Friday.
