Around the rinks (Bailey, Hickel, Cole, Williams, etc.)

Quick tour of some college pucks tonight, where we find No. 1-ranked Michigan Tech (10-1-0) absorbing its first loss this season, courtesy in part to a goaltender from Fairbanks.

Minnesota State-Mankato junior Stephon Williams of the Golden Heart City stopped 30 shots in the Mavericks' 2-1 win at Michigan State.

So far, strong junior year from Williams, who struggled mightily last season and lost his starting job after having a fantastic freshman season. He's 8-1-0 with a 1.83 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. That's much more like his freshman year (21-12-2, 2.00, .924) than his sophomore (5-6-0, 3.23, .862).

Penn State junior winger Casey Bailey of Anchorage had one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win at Michigan, giving him 9-5--14 totals in just 11 games.

Minnesota-Duluth senior winger Zoe Hickel of Anchorage furnished two goals in a 7-2 win over Cornell. That gives her 9-5--14 totals in 14 games.

At the Division III level, Trinity sophomore winger Ryan Cole had a hat trick and assist in a 7-2 win over Amherst and in just three games owns 5-3--8 totals. In 29 career games, he has generated 24-32--56 totals.
