Chugiak's Vannortwick blasts the competition at rifle meet

Emily Vannortwick of Chugiak emerged as the best of the best Saturday in a riflery meet at Dimond High.

Vannortwick shot a match-high 583 to earn top honors at the Dimond A-1 Match, which featured the top guns from the Cook Inlet Conference schools. Each school sent their top boy and their top girl to compete in shoulder-to-shoulder competition.

Second place went to Dimond's Andrew Hugeback with a 578 and third place went to Service's Logan Hanscom with a 569.
