Palmer man arrested after driving into ditch, offering passers-by 'cold beer'

A 25-year-old Palmer man was arrested for DUI Friday after driving his car into a ditch in Hatcher Pass and then offering "cold beer" to passers-by, according to the Alaska State Troopers.

At about 12:35 a.m. Friday, troopers responded to a call about a vehicle in a ditch at Mile 14 of Hatcher Pass Road "where the driver was offering cold beer" to people passing by.

Troopers said Troy T. Hepola, 25, was intoxicated when he drove into the ditch. He was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
