Troopers break up one fight, get challenged to another in Kodiak

Two people were arrested early Thursday morning after fights broke out in Kodiak, one of which involved an Alaska state trooper, according to a trooper dispatch posted online.

Troopers said they were called to a fight in progress at a home on Perez Way around 5:50 a.m. One trooper responded and attempted to break up a fight and separate 21-year-old Gwendolyn Christiansen, of Old Harbor, and an unidentified 46-year-old woman from Ouzinkie, the dispatch said.

"When AST arrived and attempted to quiet G. Christiansen, she refused to do so and was taken into custody and arrested for disorderly conduct," the dispatch said.

Immediately afterward, Rolf Christiansen, 47 of Old Harbor, challenged the trooper to a fight, the dispatch said. He fought with the trooper, before being arrested for disorderly conduct, troopers said.

Troopers said alcohol was a factor in the fights. Both women were injured, but declined medical treatment, according to an email from Tim DeSpain, troopers spokesman. The trooper was not injured, he said.

Assault charges against Gwendolyn Christiansen and the unnamed woman will be forwarded to the Kodiak District Attorney's office for review, troopers said.

Both Christiansens were taken to the Kodiak jail and held on $250 bail, the dispatch said. By 11 a.m. Thursday, neither remained in custody, according to the state's inmate information and notification service.
