Kornfield, Kanady claim sprint titles at Kincaid

An all-star cast of skiers gathered at Kincaid Park for Besh Cup sprint race that was short even by sprint standards.

Tyler Kornfield and Mackenzie Kanady topped loaded fields in the races for skiers 18 and older.

Because of marginal trail conditions at Kincaid, the race was switched from a classic event to a freestyle and the course was shortered. Usually held on a course of about 1.2 kilometers, Saturday's course was just under 900 meters.

In the race for skiers ages 16-17, Gus Schumacher and Molly Gellert took the victories, and in the race for skiers ages 14-15, Eli Hermanson and Tjarn Bross emerged triumphant.

Competition continues Sunday with an interval-start race that was moved from Kincaid to the Hillside, where there is more snow.
