Pair of UAA hockey players tabbed for WCHA honors

A pair of UAA hockey players have been named WCHA players of the week after leading the Seawolves to a sweep of UAF.

Freshman goalie Oliver Mantha won the league's Rookie of the Week award after stopping 80 of 83 shots in UAA's pair of wins. The Quebec native matched a career high with 46 saves in the Seawolves' 3-2 overtime win Jan. 17. He currently owns a .928 save percentage. The single-season record is Chris King's .921 during the 2003-04 season.

Tatchell's performance in the series earned him the Offensive Player of the Week award. The junior from Saskatchewan had a pair of assists in UAA's 2-1 win Jan. 16. The next night he notched the game-winner in overtime to give UAA a 2-0 lead in the annual Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup competition between the rival schools.

UAA returns to the ice Jan. 30-31 for a road series at Northern Michigan.
