Alaska State Troopers investigate abuse claim at Kodiak Orthodox academy

KODIAK -- Alaska State Troopers say they are investigating an allegation of physical abuse at St. Innocent's Academy in Kodiak.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror reports that two complaints have been filed by former teachers in Kodiak on behalf of their children, who attended the school about a decade ago.

However, Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says only one person has come forward to allege he was a victim.

Troopers Sgt. Eric Olsen asks anyone with knowledge of the case to contact troopers in Kodiak.

The academy for high school age boys or older is affiliated with the Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese.

The academy said in a statement to the Daily Mirror it takes the allegations seriously, but it's inappropriate to comment at this time.
