In a game loaded with big performances, West High's Brandon Huffman outshined everyone with 29 points and 18 rebounds that powered West past East 78-74 in a Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball showdown Monday night at West.
Huffman hit 12 of 15 field goals and grabbed seven offensive rebounds. The Eagles got another double-double from Dazhon Wyche, who racked up 20 points and 10 rebound.
The teams combined for 52 points in the fourth quarter, when West outscored East 31-21 to erase a six-point deficit.
Desmond Johnson's 17 points and 10 rebounds led the T-birds. Marquis White poured in 23 points, Alec Canete-Hall dropped in 13 and Brayton Keith had 12.
West led 15-9 after one quarter but East rallied to tie it 29-29 at the half. The T-birds took a 53-47 lead into the final quarter.
