APD: Nobody hurt in Wednesday collision on Knik River bridge that closed Glenn Hwy.

Update, Thursday:

A two-vehicle wreck on the Knik River bridge Wednesday briefly shut down the Glenn Highway northbound, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Around 4:30 p.m., troopers received report of the crash. Kristy Rose, 26, of Wasilla, had lost control of her Ford Taurus after she drove onto the bridge, Megan Peters, troopers spokeswoman, wrote in an email.

Rose's car began fishtailing and hit the cement side of the bridge before colliding with a Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Gary Keiser, 62 of Wasilla, Peters wrote.

The Ford was totaled and the Chevy received minor damage. Neither driver was injured and no citations were issued, Peters wrote.

Update, 7:45 p.m. Wednesday:

The Glenn Highway has been reopened at the Knik River bridge following a crash, according to Jennifer Castro, Anchorage Police Department communications director.

No further details were immediately available on the circumstances of the crash.

Anchorage police shut down the northbound lanes of the Glenn Highway at Knik River bridge Wednesday evening as they respond to a crash.

Police sent the alert of the closure around 5:30 p.m. It said traffic was backed up for miles, past the Eklutna exit.
