Pilot survives crash near Glennallen

Alaska State Troopers say a pilot has survived the crash of a small plane near Glennallen.

Troopers say they were notified Monday night by Copper Valley Air that one of the company's planes, a 1955 Cessna 180, crashed outside Glennallen because of mechanical failure.

Troopers say the pilot was not injured in the crash, which occurred in temperatures of 28 degrees below zero.

According to troopers, a local pilot responded to the scene of the crash and retrieved the pilot.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
