Anchorage skier 23rd at World University Games

Anchorage freestyle skier Morgan Haymans placed 23rd Saturday in the skicross competition at the World University Games in Grenada, Spain.

Haymans, a 2011 West High graduate and a former Alyeska Ski Club racer, was tops among the four Americans who competed in the event.

Skiers from Austria, Switzerland and Russia took the podium spots, with Austria's Bernhard Graf claiming gold.

The World University Games, also called Universiade, are a multi-sport international competition for college athletes. Haymans is a senior at Western State Colorado in Gunnison.
