APD: All lanes of Knik River Bridge reopened after car fire

Traffic is moving again on the Knik River Bridge, after a car fire that closed the bridge to motorists in both directions for a time Tuesday morning, the Anchorage Police Department said.

There were no reports of injuries, and delays caused by the single-vehicle fire should soon clear, police said.

The vehicle was headed inbound when it caught fire and forced the driver to pull over, said department spokesperson Anita Shell.

Shell suggested the fire may have been caused by something electrical.

Firefighters from the Chugiak Fire Department responded to the scene Tuesday morning, along with Anchorage Police and Alaska State Troopers, police said.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
