Emmylou Harris to headline 2015 Salmonfest

Salmonfest, the three-day summer musical happening in Ninilchik, has announced that Emmylou Harris will headline the event this year. Other performers include Rodney Crowell, a Grammy Award winner, like Harris; The Motet, a Colorado funk band; Moonalice, a "psychedelic roots-rock band"; and the Dirty River Ramblers, a string band from Omaha, Nebraska.

It won't be Harris' first trip to Ninilchik. In 2005, she performed at the Deep Creek Music Festival, held in the same venue as Salmonfest, the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds. She has also performed in Anchorage in 1994 and 2005.

The Homer-based Kachemak Bay Conservation Society recently took over sponsorship of the event, previously known as Salmonstock. Organizers say it will continue to promote Alaska fish, waters and conservation.

The festival will take place July 31-Aug. 2. Discounted "Salmonfest-or-Bust" advance tickets will be available online through April 5. Details are available at salmonfestalaska.org.
