Palmer's Ben Marvin must love the cold.
Marvin claimed victory in his hometown race Saturday, winning the inaugural Crazy Lazy Mountain Race up and down Lazy Mountain.
Marvin – who earlier this winter also won the Little Susitna 50-kilometer wilderness race – completed the seven-mile loop up and down the 3,700-foot peak near Palmer in one hour, 6 minutes, 25.4 seconds to beat fellow Mat-Su runner Lyon Kopsack by less than four seconds. Matt Shryock was third in 1:08:40.6.
The race featured 3,300 feet of elevation gain.
Alicia Kincaid finished 13th to claim the women's title in 1:32:25.4, with Ali Abereyo Papillon in 15th taking second place in 1:36:58.9 and Karen Williams (16th) finishing third in 1:36:59.7.
A total of 50 competitors completed the race, which was held in frigid temperatures but on a course race organizers said was in good shape.
