Yet more honors for UAA women's hoopster Mullings, coach McCarthy

Accolades keep rolling in for UAA women's basketball standout Megan Mullings and coach Ryan McCarthy.

Mullings on Monday was voted honorable mention Division II All-America by both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Daktronics, and McCarthy was voted Division II West Region Coach of the Year by the WBCA.

Mullings, a junior who led UAA in scoring average (13.6 points per game), field-goal percentage (UAA single-season record 60.4 percent) and blocks (1.5 per game), previously was voted the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's Newcomer of the Year and first-team all-conference.

McCarthy previously was voted GNAC Coach of the Year after leading the Seawolves to the conference title in his third season and guiding them to the No. 1 ranking in the nation for four consecutive weeks. McCarthy's honor makes him one of eight coaches in the running for national coach of the year.

The Seawolves, who were knocked out of the NCAA West Region Championship in the first round, finished 29-2 to deliver the best winning percentage (93.5) in school history.
