Idaho man booted from jet faces charges after scuffle with police at Juneau airport

JUNEAU — A 55-year-old Idaho man ordered off an airplane for smoking in the bathroom is in custody after allegedly assaulting two Juneau police officers, including biting one on the cheek.

Police say in a statement that David Allen Cimino of Elmore County was ordered to leave an Alaska Airlines jet while it sat on the tarmac Thursday.

Authorities say he fled from two officers, who arrested him after a short chase and fight.

Police say Cimino suffered minor abrasions in the scuffle, while each officer had a hand or wrist injury and one was bitten on her left cheek.

All were treated before Cimino was jailed on two counts each of assault and criminal mischief and a single count of resisting arrest.

Online court records Thursday afternoon didn't show any charges.
