Man critically injured in stabbing at Anchorage homeless camp

Anchorage police arrested a 45-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing a man in a Midtown Anchorage homeless camp early Sunday morning.

Police were called to the area of 17th Avenue and C Street, in the Chester Creek Greenbelt area, about 5:30 a.m. Sunday for a reported stabbing "at a homeless tent," Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro wrote in a news release.

Officers found a man with multiple stab wounds who was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

A woman identified as Elizabeth Chiskok was taken into custody at the scene, the release said.

"A preliminary investigation determined that Chiskok knew the victim and had been in a prior relationship with him," the release said.

The two got into a verbal altercation before the stabbing, according to the release. Police said the suspect was cooperative and stayed at the scene.
