Stull races to narrow win at Clarks Road Hill Climb

After more than six miles of uphill racing, Wednesday's Arctic Bike Club Clarks Road Hill Climb was decided by about a bike's length.

James Stull beat Tim Berntson by on second to claim victory in the open men's division, completing the course in 23 minutes, 53.3 seconds. Jason Lamoreaux was third, six second behind Berntson.

Sheryl Loan was the lone competitor in the open women's division, clocking a time of 27:13.9.

Fifty-five cyclists turned out for the race, which climbed 1,420 feet over 6.22 miles on a course along the Old Seward Highway, Rabbit Creek Road and finishing at the top of Clarks Road.

Division winners included Paul Hosmanek (intermediate men), Ellie Mitchell (intermediate women), Dima Robertson (junior boys), Katie Seybert (junior girls), Andy Duenow (master men 45-plus), Gunnar Knapp (master men 60-plus), Alex Cervenka (novice men) and Claire Coppel (novice women).
