Green cashes in yet again at World Series of Poker

Retired Anchorage furrier Perry Green, the most successful Alaskan in history at the annual World Series of Poker, has cashed in once again in Las Vegas.

Green this week finished 36th in a $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better event in the 46th annual WSOP at the Rio. He earned $7,600 in a tournament that drew 480 players.

Green's earnings marked the 29th time he has cashed at a WSOP event, dating back to 1976, according to the tournament's website. It also marked the sixth consecutive year Green has won money in a WSOP event.

Green three times in the 1970s won a WSOP event and earned a prestigious bracelet that goes to the winner of each tournament at poker's biggest, most lucrative event, which this year runs for nearly two months and features 68 separate tournaments. He also has twice been a runner-up and in his WSOP history has earned $686,017.

Green became the 15th Alaskan to earn money in a WSOP event this summer.

Two Alaskans recently earned money in an event called the MONSTER STACK $1,500 No-Limit Hold 'em tournament that attracted 7,192 players.

Matthew Pagels of Anchorage finished 249th to earn $6,019 and Roger Gibson of Anchorage placed 572nd to pocket $3,495.

The biggest cash by an Alaskan at this WSOP belongs to Christopher Hartman of Fairbanks, who won $9,501 for his 17th-place finish in a $3,000 Limit Hold 'em 6-Handed event.
