Driver dead in crash on Kenai Peninsula

Alaska State Troopers say a 79-year-old man died Wednesday in a single-vehicle wreck at Mile 147 of the Sterling Highway near Happy Valley.

Troopers had received a REDDI, or Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately, alert about a pickup driven by Bradley Dickey, of Homer, shortly before the crash, which was reported around 4:10 p.m., troopers said.

The pickup had gone off the roadway and crashed in a ditch. Medics pronounced Dickey dead after several minutes of resuscitative efforts, troopers said.

Dickey's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's office for autopsy.
