Goalie Oldham gets a look for US World Junior team

Goaltender Kris Oldham of Anchorage on Thursday was one of 39 players invited to the USA Hockey's National Junior Evaluation Camp for consideration to play on the country's squad in the World Junior Championship.

Oldham, who turns 18 next week, is among four goalies invited to the camp, which is set for Aug. 1-8 in Lake Placid, New York. Players at the camp will practice and also play international games against Finland and Sweden.

The 2016 World Junior Championship is Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Helsinki, Finland.

Oldham, who has committed to Nebraska-Omaha, enjoyed a strong 2014-15 season with the Omaha Lancers of the U.S. Hockey League. He went 21-6-4 with a 2.49 goals-against average, .908 save percentage and one shutout.

Although the 6-foot-2, 203-pounder went 0-3 in the playoffs, he fashioned a 2.73 goals-against average and .913 save percentage.

Prior to playing for the Lancers, Oldham played for the Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League.

Team USA's goaltending coach for the World Junior Championship is former UAA goalie Kevin Reiter.
