Wasilla man faces federal charge of attempting to entice a minor

A Wasilla man was indicted Wednesday on a federal charge of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, though the charges against him indicate he'd previously sexually abused two other girls.

The criminal complaint against Justin Nekeferoff was filed July 24 and the indictment was handed down Wednesday, according to federal court records.

An "associate" of Nekeferoff contacted the FBI and worked as a cooperating witness against the North Slope worker.

The associate showed texts from Nekeferoff to investigators, according to the complaint. Nekeferoff said in the texts he felt compelled to have sex with young girls, it says.

In a text sent May 6, "Nekeferoff admitted to having sex with victim A approximately six years ago; (the girl) was 14 years old at the time," the complaint says. FBI agents interviewed the girl, who told them she had sex with Nekeferoff so he would stop talking about having sex with her younger sister.

Nekeferoff also disclosed to the cooperating witness he'd sexually abused another girl when she was between the ages of 3 and 15, according to the complaint.

U.S. Attorney Audrey Renschen said she couldn't comment about the possibility of additional charges against Nekeferoff tied to allegations of past sex abuse outlined in the affidavit.

"The investigation is ongoing," Renschen said.

An undercover agent posing as a woman with an 8-year-old daughter messaged Nekeferoff online and then texted him multiple times in June. The conversations became sexually explicit, with Nekeferoff suggesting sex acts he could perform on the girl, according to the complaint.

In July, Nekeferoff arranged to meet the mother and daughter at a hotel in Wasilla, but law enforcement officers met him instead. He told the officer he'd sexually abused the two teens mentioned in online messages.

Nekeferoff was set to make an initial court appearance Thursday in federal court in Anchorage.
