Prep volleyball: South, Dimond, Bartlett net CIC victories

South 3, West 0

Powered by a balanced hitting attack, the South Wolverines remained undefeated Wednesday night with a sweep of West in Cook Inlet Conference volleyball action at South.

Jaidyn Kinneeveaux tallied a team-high eight kills, Ashton Jessee and Amber Esplin each had seven and Morgan Thompson chipped in five for a South team that returned just one varsity player.

"It was a really good, all-around effort," said South coach Judy Knecht, whose lineup is loaded with players from last year's junior varsity team. "These people waiting in the wings have stepped up."

Zoe Keene handed out 17 assists and served four aces and Emma Kleven dished 15 assists for the Wolverines, who also got 15 digs from Nikki Taylor in their 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 triumph.

West got a big match from Mia Keyser, who chalked up 12 kills, seven digs and three aces. Temple Vice added 13 dogs and Rosie Rush put up 20 assists for the Eagles.

Dimond 3, East 0

Cali Clark and Madeline Laporte racked up double-doubles Wednesday in Dimond's CIC volleyball sweep of East.

The Lynx prevailed on the East High court, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18.

Clark provided 10 kills and 12 digs and Madeline Laporte turned in 12 assists and 10 digs for the Lynx, who got another 16 assists from Tee Lolotai and nine kills from Brynn Sulte.

Kyla Liufau's seven kills and 12 digs led East. Daisy Page and Nyanuer Bidit each added five kills and Page came up with nine digs.

Bartlett 3, Eagle River 2

Loryann Atafua distributed 26 assists and served seven aces Wednesday to lead the Bartlett volleyball team to a five-set CIC victory over Eagle River.

The Golden Bears, who won 25-19, 25-13, 10-25, 23-25, 15-4 in Eagle River, also received 10 kills and four aces from Violett Togagae and five kills and two aces from Charity Lega.

Paige Ardizzone led all hitters with 15 kills for Eagle River. Kara Viotta chipped in nine kills and Paige Harder tallied 34 assists and two aces for the Wolves.
