West claims CIC tennis team championship

Buoyed by victories in girls doubles and mixed doubles, West High won the Cook Inlet Conference Tennis Championships at The Alaska Club East on Saturday with a three-point edge on runner-up Dimond and a five-point cushion on third-place South.

Ava Lekander and Allie Haynes of West didn't lose a game in winning the girls doubles final, and teammates David Wood and Elana Fortson lost just two games in seizing the mixed doubles title.

The boys and girls singles finals went easily to the Hemry siblings from South High. Caroline Hemry did not surrender a game in her four matches and Joseph Hemry dropped just one game, in the final, in his four matches.

Aden Moon and Dylan Bruce of Service won the boys doubles championship.
