No. 7 UAA women fill up stat sheet in seventh-straight basketball win

In their latest display of high-tempo, high-scoring basketball, the seventh-ranked UAA women's basketball team landed six players in double figures in a 91-42 victory over Stanislaus State.

And it was the nature of those double-figure performances that highlight the dominance of UAA's seventh-straight win: four Seawolves scored in double-figures, one grabbed double-figure rebounds and another dished double-figure assists.

The individual highlights:

Jessica Madison, a senior guard, hit half of her shots – including five of 10 from long range – to lead the Seawolves with 19 points.

Hannah Wandersee, a freshman forward, nearly posted a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Megan Mullings, a senior forward, poured in 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting and four of her five rebounds came on the offensive end.

Jenna Buchanan, a senior guard, scored 11 points, marking the sixth time in seven games she has scored in double figures.

Kiki Robertson, a junior guard, handed out 10 assists and grabbed four steals.

Keiahnna Engel, a senior guard, grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with eight points, four assists, two steals and a block.

Adriana Dent, a senior guard, contributed nine points, five steals and five rebounds.

Everyone did something to contribute to the win, the second in two nights at the Alaska Airlines Center, where the Seawolves played hoops in the auxiliary gym so Alaska's high school volleyball championships could be decided on the main court.

Stanislaus State, which scored more than 100 points the previous night in Fairbanks, was led by Cassidy Sanders-Curry's nine points and eight rebounds.

The Seawolves held the visitors to 26 percent shoot while hitting 42.7 percent of their own shots. They outrebounded Stanislaus State 47-35, they tallied 22 steals to offset their 20 turnovers (Stanislaus State had 36) and they had assists on 27 of their 32 baskets.

UAA beat Dixie State 122-52 on Friday for its first of two wins over West Region opponents. The games followed a Monday night exhibition loss to Division I UNLV in Las Vegas, an 84-75 setback that doesn't count on the Seawolves' record.

The busy schedule continues for the Seawolves this week. They head to Hawaii for three games in four days, beginning with a Tuesday game against Hawaii Pacific. By the time they return to Anchorage, they'll have played six games in 12 days and visited both Las Vegas and Honolulu.
