JUNEAU — Juneau police say a man assaulted a hotel clerk and took cash from the hotel till.

Police just before 8 p.m. Tuesday took a call reporting a robbery at the Travelodge Hotel in the Mendenhall Valley near the city airport.

Police say a man about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds walked toward the clerk with his arm extended and hand covered by his sleeve as if he were carrying a handgun. The suspect was dressed in black and he wore a ski mask.

A man attempted to intervene and the suspect punched him.

Police say the suspect continued toward the female clerk and motioned with his arm as if he were putting a gun in her face.
