Child dies in Anchorage mobile home fire

A child died in an East Anchorage mobile home fire early Saturday morning, fire officials said.

Battalion chief Mike Davidson of the Anchorage Fire Department said firefighters responded around 1 a.m. to a report of a mobile home fire in a trailer court at 3307 Boniface Parkway.

Firefighters who arrived saw heavy smoke and flames coming out the windows of the mobile home, Davidson said.

Four people were inside when the fire broke out, Davidson said. He said an adult and two children were taken to the hospital.

A third child died at the scene, Davidson said. He wouldn't release the names or ages of any of the people involved. He said he did not know the status of the three others who were hospitalized.

Davidson said fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fatal fire. He said the mobile home sustained "significant" damage.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misidentified AFD battalion chief Mike Davidson.
