Wasilla assault suspect arrested after high-speed chase

A man accused of breaking into a woman's Wasilla home and assaulting her early Monday was arrested by Alaska State Troopers, who say he tried to escape them at the wheel of a stolen car.

Troopers said in a Monday dispatch that the suspect, Jordan King, is charged with first-degree attempted sexual assault and burglary, as well as kidnapping and second-degree assault. Other charges against him include first-degree vehicle theft and failure to stop at the direction of a police officer, reckless driving and third-degree theft.

Troopers said they were called to a Wasilla home at about 1 a.m.

"(The) victim reported (King) broke into her house, struck her on the head with a handgun, attempted to sexually assault her and restrained her from leaving the residence," troopers wrote. "The victim escaped from King and fled the residence."

Troopers said when they tried to stop King, he stole the victim's vehicle and fled on Knik-Goose Bay Road.

"King led officers on a chase, reaching speeds of 100 mph and nearly colliding with oncoming vehicles before crashing off of Big Lake Road," troopers wrote.

King was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was being held without bail, troopers said.
