JUNEAU — An avalanche has closed a section of a road used for hauling supplies to Alaska's North Slope oil fields.
The state transportation department, on its traveler information website, says an avalanche occurred at mile 245 of the Dalton Highway. Department spokeswoman Meadow Bailey says the avalanche occurred Friday morning.
There was no immediate estimate for how long it might take to clear the road.
